Paul Chambers, educator and co-owner of the Kuttin Ege' Salon on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, shows off his multicultural versatility with a stunning makeover of model Brittany Johnson.
Paul Chambers bubbles over with enthusiasm about services, his career and future with the ever-changing world of beauty - not to mention how he transformed his model's hair from a frizzy fiasco into gorgeous halo of color and style.
"During our consultation, I worked hard to make Brittany trust me, " Chambers smiles. "This was especially necessary when I started to talk about blonde highlights - a service that commonly leaves level 2 hair with an unwanted orange hue. I also put forth several possibilities that would give her versatility. This was important for Brittany because she's an aspiring model."
Based on their consultation, Chambers relates that he created a Chromastics base formula that was three parts 6BV (blue violet) and one part 6G (gold) with 25 - volume developer. "My model's hair was completely natural, so I used the higher volume developer to quickly take her hair to a warm, medium brown. Mixing the blue violet and gold shades allowed me to control the end result." Chambers then created thin slices of blonde by using cream lightener plus a pinch of powder to help speed up the process. "Between each service step, I treated the hair with BacStart, an acidifer that makes the hair manageable and immediately stops color development", notes Chambers. "I also treated Brittany's hair with P2 by Philip Pelusi HaiRX X-Treme Daily Treatment between the base and highlinting steps, as well as at the end of the service. And, because I did the base first (root to end), the resulting shade helped to tone the blonde a gorgeous, medium warm color, as opposed to orange."
